I intend to vote YES on CA Prop 19 on November 2, 2010. There are many reasons I believe that this is the right answer to so many of California's problems, and why I am anxious to see the opportunities for future success this proposition will provide to my local community.
I believe this proposition will cut to the heart of many, many problems we all have, and find long term solutions for those problems. It is not a partisan issue that should divide our State or Country but one that should unite ALL Americans to obtain the correct information for themselves, and decide for themselves......and most importantly it can hold every politician from the local level on up accountable for their specific actions to support or derail it.
I consider myself to be a moderate Republican, and do associate strongly with the Tea Party Patriots ideals. The most important issue in my town (Victorville, CA) is unemployment. Without a doubt every person living in the High Desert region realizes this is the reason for many local problems. While the Federal jobless rate stays around 10%, we here are experiencing double that at least. I myself am no longer part of the unemployed statistics because I have been out of work for so long.
Our region was created for real estate development, and construction, but needs to be enhanced with production and manufacturing to support the expected future growth. We have many of the tools to complete these big dreams of private sector individuals, wanting to develop and grow the High Desert Region of California. The problem is almost every city has been corrupted in some way to spread the federal money around to all these projects. We need to change that.
We need less Federal involvement, and more ability for our States to protect themselves from a future Federal impositions. This is a bill which will challenge the drug industry filled, overspending, compromised Washington Bureaucrats. They as a whole are killing many more Americans than they are saving by creating a failed "War on Drugs".
This proposition will create massive amounts of revenue at all levels of government. Every city, county, state could use this right now. Most importantly it will create hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of new jobs right here in California and will transform every community that supports it. Travel and tourism will definitely return in force to witness California's Green Agri-tourism revolution. Plus it will take people who are currently doing something illegal, and provide them with a job opportunity in the industry they know very well. Good jobs, union supported jobs, jobs that will educate them for a future and prepare them to lead instead of follow. Jobs that should be available to be modeled for Mexican employers to solve their unemployment crisis.
Mexico is a key reason we have to legalize marijuana. This is where many of the problems associated with it stem, and they intend to legalize it themselves. We support these drug cartels by giving them the power over the money this industry already has, and will continue to have in the future. It is estimated 60% of the revenues from illegal drug sales from Mexico are coming from marijuana. Why would we give this much money(power) to our enemies of a 30 year long war??? We in Californian additionally support the industry as a whole, but almost every member of the work force that drives this $14 Billion industry does so illegally. We can no longer allow all these Americans to be used like this anymore we must reform our laws and evaluate different measures of success, our current measures are not accurate measures and we are being lied to. We used to value individual achievement and honor, now we value supporting of our enemies, and usurpation of it's people.
It will indeed be supported by conservatively 50% of Californians. I want leaders in my local government being part of the majority looking for some good returned to our communities. We need to take the hate associated with this plant which controls lives, and too many deaths to support it's current form of regulation.
Try a different approach, if it doesn't work we at least would have hired many thousands of people researching whether or not it will work for the good or the bad. Not to mention the increased University spending for independent research. How many teachers are still taking furlow days this year, have been laid off? I want them back preparing these new students to strive for knowledge in the University Level.
I look at the generation of leaders before me and am frankly appalled. We don't even know half of the crooked deals at our expense and we already hate them all. I do not want to hate anymore. I want my kids to look around at the community I leave them with and say thanks Dad you did a good job. Maybe......a kid somewhere will get inspired to do something about changing his or her world.........and do it.
